It’s so easy to get bogged down by the constant bombardment of negative news and stories that flood our minds every day. There is a high probability that when we are engaging with the news that it is going to be doom and gloom. We at Rooftop Solar didn’t get into the solar business because we thought the world had no hope of changing, we got into this business because we believe in a viable future for all beings on this planet. We want to be a part of the solution and not just focus on the problem.
We’re dreamers. We love to daydream about the endless positive possibilities that await us. Below is a list of hopes and dreams that we believe our future could hold.
Hope #1: All of civilization using 100% clean, renewable energy.
Of course we believe this! The future for renewables is looking bright and consistently on a beautiful uprise. According to the International Energy Agency, in 2012, the world relied on renewable sources for around 13.2% of its total primary energy supply. In 2013 renewables accounted for almost 22% of global electricity generation, and the IEA Medium-Term Renewable Energy Report 2015 foresees that share reaching at least 26% increase in 2020. Renewable energy is on the up and up! It is increasing at a faster rate than ever before.
Hope #2: Carbon capture becomes a viable form of CO2 removal in the atmosphere
Carbon capture plants are gaining notoriety throughout the world. As the temperature of the world increases drastically, just simply changing to renewable energy will likely not be enough to return the atmosphere to a place of perfect homeostasis. It is necessary to pursue a technology that will reverse the impact already created by humans and fortunately for us, that technology is already advancing! We have a long way to go before we are able to eradicate the damage already created, but it’s comforting knowing that there is a possibility!
Hope #3: Ending world hunger
Contrary to popular belief, we are actually making big strides to helping the global hunger issue! Since 1990-92, the number of hungry people in the world has declined by 216 million people, despite an increase in world population of two billion. This not only shows that it is possible, but that we are on our way to improving it!
Hope #4: No more war
This one feels like big dreamin’, but we still believe it can happen! If we, as a human civilization, can come together to eradicate global warming and end world hunger, perhaps we can work together to build a peaceful future where we can collaborate and form a stronger world civilization. Technology, ideas, education and society would flourish if we simply learned how to work together and work for the greater benefit of all people.
