Why Bifacial Panels Work Well in Flagstaff
Bifacial panels like the Hyundai 400-watt modules on Tom’s roof collect sunlight on both the front and back surfaces, picking up light that reflects from nearby surfaces. How much extra energy that adds depends on how the panels are mounted and what surrounds them. Flagstaff’s high elevation, clear skies and cooler temperatures create favorable conditions for solar, and winter snow can reflect additional light onto the panels. Pairing them with microinverters means each panel works independently, so shade on one panel does not hold back the rest of the system.
Understanding APS Solar Credits and Billing
Tom’s one wish was for more information about how APS now credits and charges for power. It is a fair point, because the rules for Arizona solar customers have been changing.
