How Enphase IQ8MC Micro-Inverters Work
Each of the 35 panels on Daryl’s roof has its own Enphase IQ8MC micro-inverter, which converts that panel’s DC power into the AC power the home uses. Because every panel works independently, shade, dust or debris on one panel does not hold back the rest of the array. Panel-level conversion also means each panel’s output can be monitored individually.
How Solar Works With an APS Bill
Daryl’s goals centered on the monthly power bill and running the air conditioner without worrying about it. With solar, the home uses its own clean energy during daylight hours, which is often when air conditioning works hardest. When the panels produce more than the home needs, the extra energy flows to the APS grid and earns a bill credit.
